Quick Flight to Ocracoke Airport

Our good friends Bill and Kay are traveling the Outer Banks this week. We decided spur-of-the-moment to go have lunch with them Sunday!

Heading across the Pamlico Sound...

You don't lose sight of land completely...but it does make you pay attention "in case of emergency"!!

Approaching the Outer Banks - this is just south of Ocracoke Island.  Amazing how narrow the little strip of land is.....

Looking back north at Ocracoke Island.  It was a beautiful day!

Not a lot of folks on the beach.

Approaching the airport to land on runway 6.

Our friends Bill and Kay met us in their car at the airport.  We decided it would be fun to rent a golf cart this time and show them the sights!

Had to go check out the sailboats at the public dock, of course!

Had to stop at Zillie's for a few beverages - Duane volunteered to drink just a soft drink since we would be flying home and was observing  the "8 hour Bottle-to-Throttle" rule.

We had lunch at Smack-Nalley's instead of one of our favorites - the Jolly Roger was closed....bummer.  While having lunch a fisherman pulled in to the marina with his catch - hope he got them on ice soon!  He pulled in to drop something off and was gone in a flash.

We toured the regular sights - they hadn't seen the lighthouse....not much to see unless you're big lighthouse fans or happen to catch it on a day that the caretaker has it opened up.

We did the ring-toss at Dajio, toured the British Cemetery.....and before you knew it, it was time for us to head back East!   Always fun to visit Ocracoke, even if just for a few hours!!

What cool photographs! I live in
Wyoming so I'm also excited to see photos with so much water. We're a LONG way from the ocean!
