Walking at Eno River
What a beautiful February day!
We went to the Eno River State Park for a nice hike.
The swinging foot bridge across the river.
Pretty river views
Duane spied these two turtles on a rock - I had to zoom in so it's not too clear.
And we shooed this little snake on its way because it was in the middle of the path. I looked it up - it's a Southern Ring Neck snake - hard to see, but it's got a little yellow band on it's neck. It's "slightly venomous".....you can click on the photo to see it a little better.
And that was about it for the 5 mile hike. We met Richard/Miranda/Robert and my mom/Frank for a nice meal in Chapel Hill. A good day!!

Biking
The weather is just fantastic!!! Imagine a week in February with 70+ degrees.....
Went for a bike ride on the American Tobacco Trail -just 10 miles since we've not been riding alot recently. I'm out of shape....gotta get ready for our 6 weeks in Australia later this year!
Fun bike path. I gotta complain though, it's UPHILL BOTH WAYS!

Daffodils in full bloom
I was amazed that my daffodils were in full bloom when we returned from St. Croix!!
These bi-color daffodils normally bloom a week or so after my solid-color ones....this year, they're all blooming at the same time. Strange - and a little disappointing since the staggered bloom always seemed to "prolong" spring a little....

St. Croix trip
Just got back from our St. Croix trip with Sharon and Buddy.
The first day was mostly travel - view from our villa - private pool and view of the ocean in the distance.
Relaxing in the evening...

Beautiful flowers everywhere.
No Caribbean vacation is complete without chicken photos - these were pecking around at our feet at a restaurant.
Included this photo for my sis - Tofurky sandwich - we marinated onions overnite with balsamic vinegar. Very yummy!!
One day, we took a long hike that I had read about - it was about 2 miles one way to some "tide pool". The trail meandered thru mostly wooded and hilly terrain. View from the trail.
Termite nests on the trees were common.
Finally made it down to the tide pools. Very pretty and calm.

It was actually pretty adventuresome walking over the sharp rocks to get inside the tide pools.
In heavy seas, the ocean waves actually spray over the rocks you see here. Luckily, the ocean was fairly calm.

We did some snorkeling - some of it was pretty bland....but this one was actually pretty colorful.

Daffy's
Been working on the Avion lately......so not much else happening.
More daffodils are up and ready to bloom! I'm happy that the 20 degree lows we've had lately haven't damaged them. Hardy little flowers!
