The long-awaited return to the BVI was here at last! We traveled to the BVI last in 2008 - since then we've branched out to St. Martin and the Bahamas for our sailing trips.
Duane and I used some frequent flyer points to get first class tickets for part of our airline journey....I always love the special little meals they serve.... and I probably embarrass Duane by taking photos, oh well.
Uneventful flights and a short ferry hop over to Road Town, Tortola. This is the remains of an old sugar cane processing plant on St. Thomas we could see on our ferry ride.
We're old-hat at provisioning and getting ready for our 10 days on the boat. The following morning we were briefed by the charter company and were off the dock before noon. Here the seasoned crew is hoisting the main sail.
Destination for the first night is Norman Island. An easy sail over - we picked up a mooring at "The Caves" - a popular snorkeling spot. Here is the view from inside one of the small caves looking back at our boat....
Photo taken of Sharon, Dick and I inside one of the caves.
I spied this school of fish - and hadn't ever seen ones quite like them. We looked them up in our fish-identification book we had brought down. They are Glassy Sweepers.
Carolyn and Cecil at the mouth of a cave - the sun was really bright so the exposure is a bit off.
Carolyn and Cecil underwater. Isn't that sweet?
Had to take a photo of Buddy with a Bud. (He is not a big Budweiser fan....not sure why he picked it except maybe it was on the top of the pile of beer!)
Just relaxing on the trampoline before getting ready for dinner.
All showered and ready for our first dining experience from the boat.
Our destination - the Willy T - a floating restaurant anchored off Norman Island. Look close at the photo, on the right side, upper level, there are youngsters jumping off a platform. This is rumored to be more active late at night and if a lady is willing to do it topless a trophy tee-shirt is awarded. That's the rumor......
After a good meal on the Willy-T, we all settled in for a bit of relaxing and an early night.
