July 4th visit home

We ended up having to drive home instead of flying....it was just soggy and stormy. Not worth the worry or the risk! Mom had a normal "picnic" event planned....but it ended up being so rainy that we just enjoyed inside! I had brought some corn up to share (from Dick's garden!) - here Trudi is helping eager-eater Conner with an ear....

Grandma put some "ear holders" on the ends of ear #2 - he was thrilled to be so self-sufficient!

The view from Mom's front porch....it's always green....but particularly so now!!

Mom's hydrangea's are just beautiful!  She snipped these lovely bunches and sent them to Granny.  Granny loved them, of course!

We visited with Granny and Cordy for a while, had a nice lunch and on the way back home we stopped by a couple of the new local wineries. I tasted their reds - and brought home a couple of bottles, of course! I was actually quite surprised how good the wine was. I was expecting sweet reds, but they were actually nice Cabs and Merlots! The view from the porch at Burnshirt Winery:
